hmm one more maybe..always reboot after a stress test that ends in artifacts.
because sometimes the artifacts stay even after a change in clocks. so my best advice
would be to program the new lower mhz freq. to windows startup (like in rivatuner) apply and then reboot your computer. or simply change to the new oc after a reboot.

hope i've made myself clear enough (damn danish roots )

oh and always keep good airflow. even though the sensors arent detecting anything special there might be an overheating other places.

also i found a brilliant "new" stress test tool http://incrysis.com/forums/viewtopic.php?id=24465

i like the cargo flyby lots of explosions.

Alright, nice, I'll check out the stress test. Unfortunately, over volting up to around the 1.125v (anything higher my card would not accept) did not allow me to overclock my card anymore. I couldn't even push my core 5 mHZ with having it crash on Furmark. So now, I'm just keeping stock voltage and my current clocks. Thanks for all the help though.

that's to bad m8 well i guess that means overvolting doesnt always garanti better clocks.
maybe there is some more options to play with inside of NiBiTor but ofcause thats a little more risky.

no problem on helping out. if nobody else wants to help im glad to step up

I know that's the 55nm thread but you can use it as a reference. Going by the one BFG entry in there he is using 1.12v in 3D. We can assume then that since your 65nm chip can handle more volts than a 55nm chip that 1.12v is a safe voltage. That and the fact that the 65nm cards have better cooling than the 55nm cards - your temps should be fine.

That being said I have no personal experience in volt modding video cards, so this is all just logical reasoning.

edit: Damn my late posting.

Your forgetting to take into consideration that anything over 1.5-1.6 on these cards would be in the realm of DICE and Ln2 runs.

edit2: your card should be able to handle 70-80c+ temps..90c will properly shorten
it's life.100-130c in extreme situations. but then again you won't be running furmark for years.
No, not at all, infact I wouldn't recommend that you volt mod the card past 1.1 or 1.15 volts due to the immense heat and already poor temps your card has. When voltage is increased and clocks are increased, temperature becomes a much bigger problem, and the GPU can be more sensitive to the higher temperatures then a GPU at standards clocks/voltage.

Take everything Spaceape says with a massive grain of salt, if you listen to him at all. Improperly overvolting and undercooling your card will kill it fast.

61C might not be too bad a temperature for a stock volted card, heck maybe 70C wouldn't be too too bad with a slight overvolt, but when volt-modders talk "good temps" we mean a watercooled GPU that loads at sub-50C. Then 1.4 wouldn't be bad, and might not even push the GPU temps above 60C.

Also, justifying high temps by saying "well its not under 100% load all the time..." doesn't take into account the extreme sensitivity of the core at high-clocks/volts, nor does it take into account the greatly increased idle temperature.

Your reasoning is quite sound. If you have no experience with something, suggesting a "lighter" overvolt/clock is much better then just jumping right in and possibly getting some one into trouble with card damage.
