Default Should I overclock my 9500 GT?

plz dont laugh at me or anything I really have no clue when it comes to computers anyway ever since I upgraded from my 7600 card to 9500 GT (DDR2, 512 memory) I've been experiencing some fps drops in COD4 which i didnt expect

Heres some info on my card

Core clock : 550 MHZ
Memory clock : 333 MHZ (666 MHZ data rate)
Memory interface : 128 bit

And my computer ,

Intel core 2 duo E4500 @ 2.20
2 GB 667 Ram
OS : Xp 32 bit

MY previous card, 7600 ran Cod4 fine at 40 fps (medium settings)

Is there something wrong with this card or is it the clock speed or anything like that? I use the lagometer when im playing Cod4 and I see yellow spikes on the blue line that indicates my fps. So i'm pretty sure something is wrong with my card ?

Temperatures, GPU - 53, CPU - 55

FPS : i can get as far as 250 but its capped at 125, and it drops to 100 like for half a second and*skips* the game(which is annoying as hell

Please help. Thanks

You could use a program like RivaTuner, Evga Precision or even the Nvidia Control Panel to OC that card. It might also be a good idea to OC your CPU a bit more if possible. The temps are ok so 2.4-2.6 would help.

No, do not OC it it, as you will not gain any performance, This is a budget card and you can't OC and expect it to be suddenly super fast,

OCing might give u better 3dmark score, but overall you will not see a difference in performance, and instead your GPU and BGA ram gets hot and you got yourself a busted vc,, gl

hEY Can you post your GPU-Z, which brand of 9500gt do you have?
Btw, you get up to 250-100fps in COD4 at medium settings?
Whats wrong? i mean whats the problem here, because i don't see it?

My question exactly. The thread starter had 40 fps in cod4 with old card, now has 150-250fps with new card, wheres the problem?!

also the skipping is prob your cpu struggling to keep up.

EDIT: A drop from 125fps to 100 would not give you a skip/pause in the game for a second, its probably down to something else, i.e cpu, memory.

i had the gigabyte overclocked version of this card before i got my 4870. i thought it ran really well, could play crysis on medium setting easly, and was even playable on high but was a little laggy.

it was the gigabye 9500gt 1gig mem, core clock 650mhz and mem clock of 800mhz
