Thumbs down struggling with my 285 gtx sli oc

i have two bfg 285 2gb gtxs with a slight factory overclock (666-1512-2322). i've been trying to oc them for a while but the second i increase the memory frequency, even 10 mhz, the drivers crash and the card reverts back to high 2d mode (400core max). temps are fine mid 70s load.

as for the core/shader clock, the highest i can get with them are 684 and 1552 respectively before it fails again..

RGTX2852048OCE is the mfg number if that means anything. is this normal for the 2gb cards or did i just get a lame duck(s).

Maybe it's a windows 7/driver thing. Other than that i would just leave them stock without oc. I've found that ocing gpus doesn't make that big of a difference anyway.

When oc'n your card have you tried leaving core and shader at stock and just doing the memory?

The shader is usually the most touchy on these cards, I would suggest doing the core then memory and shader last.

you are on a 2gb version which may be the reason we have different results tho.

Here are some links with info on our cards

The 285 Owners page

And if your feeling frisky.

vGpu & OCP mods @ xs.org

You can read on the xs forums about how these cards are limited by OCP protection and will only clock so high anyway. But IMO you should be getting at least a 100 - 200 MHz from your mem clock...
