Hi,
__________________Can someone please explain what Nvidia control panel AA should be used for older games: Example: COD4 MW -- in game only supports 4x AA, say if I go into NVCP and choose 32xQ etc AA -- will the IQ actually improve even though this wasn't offered with the game engine? Also, when choosing between regular, Q or SLI AA -- which should you pick? Asking b/c EVGA tech support told me (on a few different occasions) that NVCP AA should never be forced (should only use what's offered by the game engine) and that those options were put in there for graphic/video rendering apps etc Thanks in advance

For CoD4, I would use the 4x it comes with because I really don't think you will be able to tell a huge amount of difference from 8x and up. I play on 4x and I forced 16x in CCC, all I got was extra lag spikes. The settings you choose depend on your setup, and whichever give higher frames.
And also, from what I've found, SLI AA basically disables AFR or SFR for rendering, and 1 card creates the image while the other card renders the AA separately.

Thanks -- I noticed something similar in COD4 as well when I started enabling 16 and 32, 8x was fine.

Rule of thumb, I would say set it to the highest possible without experiencing lag. If you can do 16x without lagging, @60fps+, then do it. I lag spiked since my CPU bottlenecks my system pretty hard, but whatever works for you should be what you play at. If you want really good image detail make sure anisotropic filtering is at 16x.

With the NVCP set to override AA, it doesn't matter what can be set in game.

Thanks -- so it sounds like I should not use SLI AA then?
__________________Is there a difference between using "regular" AA vs Q AA? A lot of the articles I find on this online are dated 2007-2007 so that is why I am asking what may seem like a basic question.... thx again

NVCP Explained. Just read it through slowly bro. Helped me a lot with my nvidia card.

A little trick to get the old control panel:
__________________goto regedit and put all this in [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\NVIDIA Corporation\Global\NvCplApi\Policies] "ContextUIPolicy"=dword:00000001 "TaskbarUIPolicy"=dword:00000002 "CplGroupUIPolicy"=dword:00000003 "SedonaDisable"=dword:00000000 Then must click on "more options"(Note u will need to right click and click ADD DWORD to add that Sedonadisable line) Once you finish the above steps, you'll get the good old working Control panel and its features/functionality. It was tested under Xp
