Default GPU Overclocking Question

Hi,

I have an Asus 9800GT Ultimate which is factory overclocked @ 725/1750/1000. I have been overclocking with Rivatuner and FurMark for a while now and I have noticed something.

FurMark Scores:
830/2003/1000: 2016
830/2003/1100: 1938
830/2003/1150: 1936
830/2003/1160: 2032 *Very Unstable*

As you can see, a higher memory lowers the score, but with 1160 in memory it jumps back up.

What could be the explanation of this?

Would I get better performance in games with the clock speeds that give me higher scores or higher clocks?

Oh yea, my temps are fine: less than 65C OCed on load. The fans are at 100% and I didnt volt mod it.

Thanks

are the lowwer scores consistant? i mean is it the same run after run after run or was it just one set of runs at those speeds as you upped the clocks?

if it was just one run it could be that somthing else was running and using resources you needed for the bench. if its consistant it could be the extra ram speed isnt enough to make the diference and lags waiting for the cores? could be some internal divider/latency thats at play and it needs to that high before it over come the loss from the higher strap/latency.

i have somthing similar but on my shader, 1985 scores higher than 2000 and it goes up again above? never really looked into the hows and whys but its there.

welcome to Overclock.net btw m8, if you plan on sticking about fill in the specs for your system at the top of the page in your user cp as it makes it easier to help if we know your specs.

Thanks! I just retested again four times and my scores came out differently.

830/2003/1100: 1976
830/2003/1100: 1933
830/2003/1100: 1925
830/2003/1100: 1896

I had nothing running in the background so i guess its the program. I'm also thinking it has something to do with the clock dividers.

Anyways would I get better performance with higher clocks or the clocks from Furmark that gave me higher scores?
