Well what are you getting? You can't expect to get the same or higher overclock as the highest guy you saw, they all overclock differently but will generally fall into the same range, which is about 470MHz on the core and 1200-1250MHz on the RAM.

My gtx wasn't a lot better until I removed the stock fan and replaced it with a 80mm fan and wind tunnel. I'm not so happy with xfx.

Uh, those arent bad for a 7800GT, lol. My max is 470/1225, so your core is a lot higher than mine.

I run it at 460/1180 all the time though.

The 7800GT's don't overclock very well

I'm getting a Zalman wednesday and I can't wait to see how it helps, but I'll let you guys know

7800's don't need to be the fastest or have the faster core/mem to still own everything out there. 24 Pipelines at 450 mhz is more than enough to pwn everything else out there. However, the crappier cards with less pipelines can clock way higher, My x800 and 9600se are both examples of this.

Well yes, a voltmod will help a lot (someone around here got to 550MHz core on his 7800GT with a voltmod), but you can kiss your warranty good-bye, will need upgraded cooling (I wouldn't do voltamodding without at least water cooling), and need to be pretty handy with a soldering iron.

There's a simple pencil volt mod that drops the resistance for the memory something like from 420 to 400 ans it ups your voltage by about .06volts, which is safe and reversable

I'm doing it as soon as I get my Zalman in

Actually, it drops the resistance from 620ohms to 600ohms

Here it is
