Default Frequencies..

This is my first GPU overclock ever, and went pretty smooth though. It's a bit confusing why NVidia users have to user ATi Tool.. but alright.

Before I'm going to show you my result I have a question. Since I'm pretty much into overclocking CPUs (E6400 @ 3.5GHz, Air cooled, Orthos 13h ) it's a bit harder for me to overclock my GPU. Mainly because while overclocking a CPU you have to lock a lot of frequencies. I'm talking about the "PCI Express Frequency" (default @ auto, now @ 100) and the "PCI Clock Synchronisation" (default @ auto, now @ 33.33). What I do know is that when you increase the "PCI Express Frequency" you slightly boost your FPS in games and such. But does this 'locking of the frequencies' also affect my performance/stability in overclocking my GPU?

The reason why I'm asking this is because I'm currently using a Thermalright HR-03 Plus (in combination with a 120mm fan, 76.4 CFM) and I'm not satisfied with my current results. People with exactly the same Motherboard/GPU/Cooling combination managed to reach a higher score with a 80mm fan.. ^So is it possible that I reach lower speeds due to the frequency locks?^

My current results (might go higher due to the frequency thing):

Could it be that when I took off the stock cooler and re-set it the white pads no longer have as good of a contact and the RAM is too hot?
Hi USlatin,

I dont get the high overclocks I used to get with the previous drivers.

I can't say for certain whether the card has taken exception to running high overclocks on air for too long and decided to lose performance or not.

hummm.. Is it common for new cards to clock higher than they will later on...? And what about the freezes when right clicking the NVIDIA icon for the control panel on the task-bar... is that not something fishy to you guys?

I posted on Robilar's P5N32-E SLI thread pointing out other possible culprits for the freezes... check it out if you can....

BTW 3.82 on air is insane... 3.45 is exellent... must be that Silverstone...
