Default SLi 7900 GT

I have a eVGA 7900 GT at 500 MHz clock, and 1500 MHz clock on the Memory, and I was going to go SLi this Christmas, but they are all sold out/ out of stock, and I was wondering if it is possible to run two different brand cards in SLi, and what do I have to look for to make sure they will. Like what guidelines to I have to follow to make sure they will run together.

Would this work with what I have?

Two different brands should work together in SLI as long as they are the same core. IE 7900GT and not a GT with a GS

That should work with what you have.

Actually... the two cards just have to be the same number and letters. Any "7900" and "GT" will work, so that MSI card is fine. When putting two different clocked cards together, the two cards will synchronize on the lower clock speeds. Your SLI set up would run at 500/1500. The 30MHz memory loss has no effect in real world. The same core thing does not apply anymore. 7900GT and GTX both use the G71 GPU, but they are not SLI-able together.

As long as the 2 cards are the same Model versions you are fine .

What will work : 2x7900GT'S = SLI

What wont : 1x7900GT + 1x 7600GT = No SLI.

You can Mix Brand names though.
