Default BFG 7800GS OC, Alternative cooling?

hey. so, this BFG 7800gs oc is the first overclocked anything i've ever had in my machine. so i am quite noobtastic.

so i started up a game... and when i heard that variable speed fan kick in at full blast... christ was it loud!

so, it's not a huge deal... but it made me curious...

do you guys know of some good cooling alternatives to a loud variable speed fan?

thanks for any donated wisdom.

Case? As long as you have good gpu(video card) cooling, it should be fine!

actually, my case is almost 9 years old. so the ventilation is kinda lacking, and there isn't a single case fan... ANND there isn't a duct leading the air from the CPU out. so, i'm pretty much blowing warm air onto an over clocked video card. so, pretty sure somethings gotta be done eventually. for now, i'm just gonna leave the cover off.

so... i just looked thru all 12 of the VGA cooling manufacturers on Newegg, checked out each individual webpage. looks like none of them have anything for specifically the 7800GS. there were plenty of fans for the 7800 and 7800gt, but nothing for my poor GS.

except one potential hope... Arctic Cooling is releasing the Accelero S-series. It's fanless and uses heatpipes, i guess. they said they'd have it released 4 months ago.. and now they're saying this month. so i guess we'll have to see.

so if any of you guys happen to have a 7800gs out there... this looks like it might be our only shot. that is... unless you can force wrong sized fans on to pretty much anything. if you guys know how to ghetto-rig a fan onto a GS or anything like that, let me know! i wouldn't mind hackin' it up a bit.

Actually, BFG brings a fine cooler, but its that humming sound at start-up that bugs you. But if this things is gonna let you spend on an expensive cooler, take into consideration of changing the case instead. Look for cool cases

The Stock cooler is good enough for Stock settings. However When overclocking its prudent to get an after market cooler...Just be sure to keep that card under 80c Full load.
