Question XFX6600gt Noise

Hey guys i have an XFX 6600gt 128mb AGP card and the fan is driving me insane.

Is there anyway on the cheap to maybe silence it or is there a way to lower the RPM on the thing.

My card is pictured below, i was thinking of a vf700 or whatever that Zalaman was but only if i could get it for under £10 lol

Any suggestions welcome

Cheers, Ace

I'll buy it from you...

lol, but you could really probably just look at the fan close and see if it's lop-sided or something, maybe it's not spinning in a circle and it's wobbling. See if you can fix it then?

Or maybe this?

Wait, Newegg doesn't ship to UK does it? Oh well, try that product on a UK site

Take a can of compressed air to her. I had my XFX 6600GT but the PCI-e model's fan go entirely. Turns out a little dust built up inside it, and the ball bearings stop moving Card overheated while gaming and pooched.

Thank god for RMA.

Another option.... contack XFX. They;ll send you a new HS&F. Pop on a lil thermal paste, and push the pins into the card. Voila. New HS&Fan

I know the fans on my dual 6600GTs are RETARDEDLY LOUD, and I keep them clean all the time, its just one lovely function of these little cards

If you wish to turn down the fan speed, you might be able to accomplish that with rivatuner, although clean your fan out just in case, as mentioned above.

lol, I just kinda tried to use my common sense... to be honest I'm not guru. I'm at this site to learn more than to try and help

Or you can go watercooling
But that's more expensive of course.

yea water cooling an AGP 6600 would be quite the waste of cash, unless you had a bunch of old WC components laying around not being used. And a bunch of free time.

Also, if rivatuner doesnt work, an aftermarket cooler is a good solution... I just dont know of any cooler thats under 20$... and to me 20$ is like the max I would spend on video card cooling (but hey, you will be able to overclock the card a bit more after that if you wish)
