Default quick video problem in windows media player...please help

I just installed my latest drivers for an fx5200 on my old dell pc and i went to watch one of the gameplay videos at gamespot and its very dark and the color is almost all purple...you can barely make out whats in the picture and the video stream is just aweful...i have WMP10 and everything but the video is just MEH and you cant even tell whats on it...its like the contrast is turned all the way up and the picture has been darkened.....can anyone help me with this??...thanks in advance!

Have you tried another movie player such as Realplayer? My computer does the same thing with Windows Media Player but Realplayer works fine with the same movies.

its the drivers, i had this problem continuously with the nvidia drivers, try different ones, or even a reinstall

It's not the drivers and the player is fine. I've had this problem with a few installs of MP10

Open a video (avi,wmv,etc) in Media Player.
Open the enhancements tab and go to the Video color settings.
Now shake the dials up and down a bit then reset them to normal.

They should be working fine now.

For some reason the video is really dark to begin with it's some sort of bug with either the MS Codecs or Media Player 10. Can really put a damper on your Pr0n.
