Yes, you would definitely need to do a 'hardmod' to increase the voltage on your card. Since you have some H20 for it, put it on the water 1st...then see how much more room you have for OC'ing on the stock voltage. You are going to drop the temps around 15-20c, which should give some more headroom for MHZ.

Its just solder. you just need a steady hand! Have you checked for pencil mods, on your card yet? They are a lot easier, and you just need a pencil and VM.

Apology to USFORCES for the OT in advance

I will definitely look into pencil mods (the 7600gt one was a snap, and increased my clocks almost 55mhz from my best stock OC)...

...though since I soldered one of the legs on a cap pak that I clipped when de-lidding my 3500+ I have had a lot more confidence in my "iron skills". I haven't got a block for the GTS yet...I wonder if frddy is interested in GPU block fabrication...

super OT: do you use ATI tool or rivatuner...or both???

also C3PO...you're my hero

Just a quick question... can the 8800 GTX ACS3 be flashed to the 8800 Ultra clocks? Cards are from EVGA.

Thanks

From what CL3P2O has explained...you may be better off using Nbitor to edit the BIOS clocks manually rather than flash. However I thought that the ultra used different ICs for thier GDDRs????

1.3ns vs. 1.5ns....er something to that affect. If you can find a revision and PCB thats the same, you could try.

Noob Question, I have XFX 8800 gts 320 Extreme edition (560/850) and I would like to squezze more performance.
Is it true by flashing the extreme edition bios to xxx edition bios increasing the voltage?
so if the voltage increased I would overclock the core clock more as well?
by the way the max that I can reach now is 650/1048 stock cooling, I would like to push it around 670 for the core is it possible?

Best Regards,

what are your temps currently...and do you have any previous BIOS flashing experience?

It might be..but that card might have different RAM..which if flashed on your card..would not work. It is easier and safer to use a BIOS editor, like NiBitor, to edit the BIOS on the card...who knows, you might get lucky and be able unlock the voltage options and set a higher default startup speed!

Thanks cl3p2o, My temps currently at 52 deg celcius at idle on stock cooling and 120mm fan at side casing panel. I have difficulties to find good HSF replacement for stock cooling in here.
I have done BIOS flashing only for motherboard BIOS, that's why I'm learning from you guys for GPU flashing
by the way could you reference any guide for NiBitor? so i'ts like tweaking your motherboard bios isn't it?
thanks for your help bro

Best Regards,

Ohh, Im so tired...just Google for Nibitor guide..or directions. It is very easy to use and understand. You can get started by using the 'Read BIOS into NiBitor' function...then you can start changing and viewing features in your BIOS..when done look for the 'checksum' button and click. If you get a green light, your home free! If you get a yellow light, reveiw your changes carefully, making sure that everything is set the way you want. Save a copy of your edited BIOS, save a copy of the default BIOS. Make a MSDOS disk or CD and save both NiBitor and the two BIOS copy's to it...

Thats kinda a quicky...but all you have to do is flash the BIOS afterwards...thats where the Google search can help..you can find all of the flash commands.

*Temps look ok..but I would recommend getting them lower..it will help when you decide to vmod, later.

I have found the NiBiTor guide from mvktech, but I would spend time to learn it first
I think I would focus on lowering the temps now, to make more room for the voltages first, then tweaking it to get more core speed.
I also found the guy that succesfully do normal edition to xxx edition but I don't think it's just not that simple to get the last extra power from the GPU
http://www.overclock.net/nvidia/1719...x-edition.html
Thanks for your information CL3P2O

Best Regards.
