thats the reason why I dont ever use any other BIOS than the one that is given on the card...just edit the stock BIOS..its not that hard and much, much 'safer'.

use -> Nibitor

Yes..but you will still be limited to how much you can increase the gpu/mem clocks, until you raise the voltage.

I dont get what exactly you are trying to accomplish here..why even mod the BIOS at all if you are not going to voltmod? You will not get any magical 'un-locked pipelines' or extra performance gains , from just changing the BIOS.

Using a mod'd BIOS or modding your stock BIOS and using it, is merely to take full advantage of a volt mod, by programing the video card to run faster startup clocks by default. That way, the card will run at the v'mod'd speeds, no matter what and a special OC program is not needed.

Since you dont want to volt mod..you are going to get what...from changing the BIOS?

Well older cards you could volt mod thru bios remmber. But you gota watch carful using bios from other cards. I remmber my old 6800 you could up the voltages thru bios and it helped the clocks alot.

yeah..but hes got a 7950... your not going to gain anything or adjust anything with that card, via the BIOS. Its volt mod or bust..

oops. just did some reading. I was under the impression that voltmodding coule only be done by physically doin crap to the card. Didn't want to do that as i may sell this card next year. Now i see this nifty tool actually mods volts and clocks through bios. now i've modded it from 1.35 to 1.4 just to see the temp and performance jumps. problem is i burned the modded bios through magic iso and tried booting. Didn't boot. I have no floppy drive. am i missing sumthing?

Yeah..well, dont bother. I already told you,
Quote:
Its volt mod or bust..
..I'm not trying to be rude, but the change you are thinking will take place..won't. You cannot perform a voltage mod on any 7900 series, except for the GTO and GTX..no exceptions. Although, the BIOS will usually have different voltage tabs to select from..the changes affect nothing...there is not the hardware on the card to support the voltage switch. So a 1.8v in BIOS..still yields a 1.35v gpu. Sorry to bust your bubble.
...its volt mod or bust.

I might add the volt mod is very easily removed, most users that volt mod the 7900 series, use the step-up program, so their cards have to be pristine when sent in to Nvidia...the mod requires only a pencil and some conductive ink + about 20minutes...you could be on your way to 650mhz+ core and 1.9ghz mem...
