Keep trying to flash the original BIOS. Other then that I'm out of ideas.

Attached is a copy of my 8800 Ultra BIOS.

Default Should I BIOS flash?

Just to be sure, there's no real reason to flash the BIOS on my two cards, is there? I'm pretty sure they're already the highest factory-OC'ed cards in their respective fields.

Main Rig:
XFX 8800GT XXX Alpha Dog (670/1950/400)

Folding/Backup Rig:
Zotac 9800GT AMP! (700/1800/400)

It sure would be nice to get both of these cards at the same specs. They're both great cards.

If I could bump my 8800GT's core to 700MHz like the 9800GT, and put my 9800GT's memory to 1950 like my 8800GT, then my OCD would be highly satisfied. Not to mention the gaming and folding benefits from this.

Somebody who's really knowledgable about this stuff let me know what I should do, or if I should just leave it. Thanks!

You can flash to higher clocks if you want. I just recommend doing a lot of testing first. Make sure you can run ATitool and furmark with decent temps. Plus, make sure all your games run just fine.

I had an issue when I was running run 9600GT with Quake Wars. Not matter how mild of an OC I did to my card it would crash my game. Now that I'm running Sli I don't have the issue. So make sure all your games, folding and apps run fine. I also do not recommend using BIOSes downloaded from sites. I've found editing your own BIOS is much safer.

In that case, I'm not confident enough in my own abilities, so I'll just be satisfied with what I have.

Thanks anyway!

I answered your post..make your own opinions. For your info..I dont own any ATi cards..and for reference..the 7800->anything will not compete with the 3850.
I dont appreciate being rebuted by fanboy comments, too.
What did u say in that stars brackets?
U didnt answer my post. I guess u dont own any Ati card because u talk like that. After the discussion, the conclusion is that 7800 is better than 3850.

The 7800GS (AGP) is two generations behind the AMD/ATI 3850. The 3850 is superior to many of the cards in nVidia's 8 series line (including GeForce 8800's) so it is most certainly better than an aging 7800GS card. If you require proof simply look around the internet for reviews on the card where it is oftten compared to 8800GTS cards.
I know that "is not a technical support or customer service forum".

Maybe 7800 is 2 generations behind 3850 but this is not important. Important thing is the efficiency. From the way u r talking I understand that u r some ati fan. So I cant trust u.

lol, the 7800 is not better then the ATi 3850. I'm a nVidia fan boy if you want to call me that, but I would not tell you to buy nVidia in this case.

I ROFL @ the idea of a 7800 even being up to par with a 3850.

You said it yourself->

Ignoring the fact that its 2x gen's older hardware, is like you saying, a 4ghz P4 is up to par with a 4ghz E8xxx CPU.... Its just simply not true at all...nor will it ever be.

*I own 2x 4850's in Xfire and a X1950pro.. my best score with the 4850's in 06' is only 400points above my score with 2x 8800GS's in SLi. 18.8k with the xfire and 18.4k with SLi...

Okay, I have vista x64 and have been trying to do this for awhile but just couldn't. Finally, I figured out a bunch of workarounds
How to Flash Your Nvidia Bios with Vista x64 with a Flash Drive

1.) Download BootDisk2BootStick
2.) Download the Floppyimage.rar attached to this post and extract floppyimage.img
3.) Download New Bios
4.) Download NvFlash
a.) Double click on nvflash.exe to unpack the real nvflash.exe and cwsdpmi.exe
b.) Note: For some cards they come up with a EPROM error, for this use NvFlash 5.50 instead of 5.72
5.) Open BootDisk2BootStick
6.) Click the WritetoUsbFlash Tab
7.) Select the Drive Letter for your Flash Drive
8.) Click Start
9.) Select our Floppyimage.img
a. We now have a bootable flashdrive
10.) Rename the New bios to 1.rom
11.) Copy 1.rom onto Flash Drive
12.) Copy cwsdpmi.exe and nvflash.exe onto Flash Drive
13.) Boot computer from flash drive
14.) Type in nvflash –b backup01.rom
15.) Type in nvflash -4 -5 -6 1.rom
16.) Reboot, You’re Finished

Another Side Note: If you are running SLI then you may have to flash each card individually by removing the second card, flashing, and then switching out the cards and flashing again. Sometimes, it will flash both at once; sometimes, it doesn't work.

By doing this you have already backup your bios onto the flash drive. It is called backup01.rom. I reccomend saving this someplace safe and even emailing it to yourself and saving it online. I say this from personal experience that it is very easy to lose and if an identical copy isn't online, then you've basically lost any chance at a warranty/RMA in the future.
