No, they aren't based on the same chip, so it's impossible.

Now BIOS'd to evga KO ACS3 Thanks to this thread You are awesome.

If you are like me and dont have a floppy drive, Here is the link for the Boot CD iso. You just simply open up the iso add the three nvidia flash files and burn the iso to disk. Here you go: http://www.bootdisk.com/plan10/flashcd.zip

I used this personally so I know it works. Warning, you will NOT be able to backup your gpu bios in dos with a boot cd.

Yeah, any files you added to the iso are in the R directory, it basically just emulates an A: drive and a secondary drive R that's the reason for the A: in dos

Tried it ,all went smoothly.
Used nvFlash 5.50 instead,,it works.
Also used NiBiTor v3.4A to edit the bios so now the
cards ID and Ram show up on my monitor screen when I power
up. Just a personal preference,,i like it when that happens.

Anyway i was looking through the XFX bio's category on mvktech.net, and found this one - XFX 8800GTX (XXX) PCIe 768MB - Rev 01 which was submitted on 08 January 2007.

I was wondering what benefit would this actually bring flashing my xfx card, and is it actually recommended for someone who knows very little about oc'ing. Also can we trust that the bio's files from mvktech.net are actually geniune and not half arsed files that could seriously damage our cards.

Thanks

CC
Hmmm up to you , would you be upset if you ruin it?

As long as all the specs are the same. The only thing that should be different from your card and the xxx one should be the clock rates. If so, give it a go.

Your not really gaining anything with the bios flashing, it will just change the stock clock rates, you will still end up OCing above the stock rates anyway. So you might want to just save it and not do it.
