ya i cant get alot out of my memory around 880 or so max for games and my core i run at 730 for games. But i can benchmark all way up to 770-800 on the core and 920 on the memory.

Adjusting the geometric delta in BIOS to its maximum negative value of ~120, can increase core clocks beyond the 720mhz range. Really, once you get over 680mhz, you are pushing the boundries of the delta, as the geometric shader clock runs faster than the core does, by default.

As for RAM, 2.28v is the highest *recommended voltage to use. Cooling the vmem IC is a must...improper cooling will smoke the controller and result in arti's running at all mem speeds. <- It sucks... XD , I know. Besides, most of the RAM will max out around 2ghz...maybe a lucky few that have really good timing sets on their cards, will be able to break 2.1ghz...but it is not recommended for 24/7 use.

You probably need a different type of pencil, then. I tried a few different pencils before I got one that worked. Just remember: it's really easy to lower the resistance on that resistor, once you get a pencil that does stick to it. Make sure you can get a proper reading from the multimeter before doing the mem voltmod, and check it again after you've done it. When the pencil finally worked for me, the ohms jumped so much that ~2.8v would've flowed through my card's GDDR3, had I put it in my system and turned it on. Break out the eraser, first, until it's at a safe level! The slow, incremental overclocker has the longest lasting hardware.

Thanks for the Rep!

For me, 728mhz(10mhz lower) seems to be the max speed stable for games, during the summer. I had to back my memory off to 885mhz for SupCom, but everything else still works fine up to 920mhz.

Ah...curse the hot weather!

Good tidbit of info. I may have to try flashing the BIOS.

I have my BFG 7900gs at GPU 599 and mem at 1.7Ghz with +4 (highest) in the PCI-E setting in bios. Whats the standard voltage for PCI-E for my mobo?

Well, the only pencils we have in this house are 2HB(I THINK we had a few 2B sketching pencils, but I can't find 'em) and when I did the shading, I got the resistance to EXACTLY 548Ohms. I mean even without the vMod at stock I can get the memory VERY easily to 900MHz so I may just scrap the memory mod all together.

Had to go pull a RAM sink off... It's got the FP-14 which I'm assuming is the 1.4ns chips? Good or bad?

1.4ns are pretty standard for a GS or GT..the GTO's and GTX's have 1.2ns and 1.1ns. Your timing set must be loose...nice for you, you dont need the voltage to be stable at the increased speed.

Has anyone had issues thus far with their volt mod? Are the 7900GS's still going strong?

Also, what's the stock voltage of the GPU? I'm getting 1.19V on my multimeter. I also notice that it has a slight Vdroop at load of 1.18V with ATI tool running.

1.2v is stock on the GPU. Mine is still running great at 1.5v.

I think that in general, if a vmod will kill something early, it kills it within a few months. The GPU/Mem can either take it, or it can't.
