Need some help...
__________________A friend of mine gave me an old graphics card of his, an Evga 7800 GT. (I'm new to PC gaming, so I didn't want to go out and drop $$$ on a card that I might not actually use.) Anyways, I was thinking about picking up a 2nd 7800 GT on ebay to run SLI on my Asus M3N-72D motherboard, but I just noticed in the manual that when in SLI mode the board drops the PCI slots down to 8X, from 16X. How will this affect the performance of the 2 video cards, if I pick-up another? Should I even bother getting a 2nd one?

no worries, there's more than enough bandwidth for videocard even when the PCI-Express slot is @ x8. You have a newer board as well so that PCI-Express slot is 2.0, which is x32, and is turning a x16... so your good to go.
on a side note, your better off going with a faster single card than 7800GT SLI, tons of faster solutions out there. If you wanna help out your friend, don't pay more than $20-$30 for your friend's videocard, but don't SLI cuz its worthless @ this point. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16814102805 something like this will outperform the 2 cards in SLI, use less power, make less heat and you won't have to hassle with 2 videocards as well.

Not unless you either flash the 8800GT to a 9800GT or the other way around.

The only thing missing from the first post is what the advantage of SLI is....

Two more concerns:
__________________Many (mid to high end?) nvidia cards have two connectors for SLI. And assuming you only doing 2 way SLI is it neccessary or is there any benefit to connect both connectors on both cards using 2 SLI bridges or is 1 bridge enough? Is there a diff between crossfire bridging and SLI bridging in terms of specific link cable hardware?
