Default 7900gt garbled screen

hi so i have had this problem since ive installed vista 32 ultimate. every time i log into my profile on vista i get a green or blue scrambled screen and the only way to fix it is to "Ctrl+alt+del" and hit down arrow and then hit enter to switch users back to myself. its tedious but it allows me to log in....i hate it and also when i switch to 3d mode sometimes it does it too, or after it has been idle forever. omg i wanna destroy my card. so i have heard that overclocking the card can stop this problem(i keep my 7900gt at stock because my last one fried lol) because it is a memory voltage issue and after a year or more "they say" 7900gt's memory voltage controllers fail. so if i overclock it overrides that problem, well i have ntune and i overclocked well it doesnt seem to run on startup or even work at all. and so i used rivatuner and vista blocks it at startup so i cant do that either. do you know anyway to hold clocks on startup with out flashing my card or am i completely wrong altogether? please help me im dying and i dont want to buy an 8800gts lol

Masterofthepuppets99, does this problem occur in windows xp? Almost sounds like a driver conflict in vista.
