well, ya. I actually do have a third GTX that i can RMA and get a new one. What the hell am i doing with 3 GTXs you ask? well, i thought my warranty on the card had been voided due to something i considered physical damage to it. I called eVGA and they said "its ok, send it in"

Anyhoo, as far as i know, the 3rd wheel cant really work in SLI with the other two as of now, but will operate independently itself. I know this is 1000% unnecessary at this point in time, and the only thing i could do with it is bench, which i dont do much of at all.

i just dont want to have a GTX sitting around collecting dust because of my idiocy.

will this even work?..EVGA says it will, but ive heard many other different stories and rumors. anyone have any hard findings on a triple card setup?

If it works. I am planning on spending $400 on a new video card (8800GTS 640MB) but if you want, ill buy it off you. What do you say.

You don't have 3x PCI Express 16x Lanes on your Motherboard that run at 16x. Sell it and get a card that only requires 4x or 8x, and use it to power more monitors. You will not see any difference in speed, the 3rd GTX will not add power.

Since the 8800GTX barely utilizes all of 8x PCIe, he could get 99% of the performance out of those cards. However, there is no triple SLI and no app supports SLI acceleration on one screen while using another screen. Sell the 8800GTX and get a cheap 8400GS. Use the extra money for another monitor.

i just looked at the specs and it said the GPU expansion slot ran at 16x..maybe i just misunderstood something

Your motherboard has three physical 16x PCIe slots. However, only the top and bottom ones run at 16x. The middle one runs at 8x.
