So 8 hours has passed since installing it. I leave my computer run 24/7 and with my 7600gt everything was nice and cool. This 8800GT after 8 hours is sitting at 165F. I walked into my apartment just now which I keep at 65F or so and it felt like I opened the oven! This thing is wicked hot! It must of raised my ambient temp in my apartment to about 85 or more. Looks like Ill shut my PC down when I leave until I get a waterblock...

thats true, but I was looking at it from more of a performance standpoint.

Wont the air will still be just as hot if you watercool your GPU? It will be more effective in taking heat away from your card, but the hot air will still be recycled from the air (fans) blowing through your radiator.

EDIT: sry didn't realize the double post

786mhz on a gt is about a 31%OC

so a GTS at 721 will give us
22,149,120,000,000bits per second(using ur mark)
and a gt at 786 will give us
22,536,192,000,000bits per second

also, the gt is 65nm core and the gts is a 90nm core (65nm being more efficient)

so now i say, and i quote...

That is true. Thank you. The price and efficiency is a great point. I'm sorry for the anger towards the end of my post.

I dont do normal water cool setup. I use a drinking fountain to cool my cpu. My temps are anywhere between 2c idle to 12c on load. But this was without a gpu in the loop. So few weeks Ill buy a waterblock and tame these wild temps!

Two Questions:

1) The only brands I have seen until I checked this thread were: Asus, Pny, XFX, eVGA, FoxConn and MSI. Where the hell are all these other cards being sold? I told myself I'd buy either a BFG, eVGA, or XFX just for the service aspect of things... but now that I see all of these options I may reconsider (although I already paid for my eVGA SC). Where can you buy the other brands at? I'm sure it's all the same... same guts with the same ****ty cooler. Which brings me to question 2...

2) What aftermarket coolers pwn and can be used with the 8800GT. I was considering a Zalman VF900 or 700, whichever fits, the thermaltake dual orb, or the Zerotherm GX815. Are any of those good, if not, whats better, and what will fit? Also what kind of thermal grease should I use? I have shin etsu x23, as5, and as ceramique.

I have read several reviews about this card getting very hot during gaming. Within tolerance levels, but still way too hot. I want to get the cooler in advance. Something you current and future 8800gt'ers might want to consider.

One last thing... anybody know the price range for the RV670/Radeon 3800 stuff coming out?

I am getting mixed signal on GT and GTS. Some says new GTS will be out. So what's the whole deal here. Should I get a GT now or wait for new GTS?
