hey guys,
well last night i saw that newegg was having a deal on basic evga 8800gt. I snagged two. so what can i expect outa them. Do they overclock decent? I know evga bins their cards, so can I expect anything decent outa the core? 650? 675? Hoping to see a noticeable improvement over my prior single 8800gtx. I'll post some pics when they get here. Looking for a mobo too. Is the evga 780i decent? Will it play well with 4x1gb sticks? thank all, eric

Mine is 720/1850/980. That's pretty good. With after market cooler, you may push higher. 780i is a good board that supports all 45nm and 65m cpus. I would prefer 2X2GB over 4x1GB.

Just something I thought of to do after reading this review:
__________________http://benchmarkreviews.com/index.ph...d=137&Itemid=1 The 8800GT is still the best price/performance choice. 8800GTX 768 $469 8800GTS 640 $319 8800GT 512 $269 prices from review in link above (prices from Newegg) ![]() ![]() ![]() conclusion: "Until the GeForce 9800 GX launches later in February (2008), there is still a large segment of the consumer market that has to shop for the best price-to-performance product for their gaming system. As our test results have indicated, it all comes back to the 8800 GT and GTX. While 3DMark06 clearly favors the 8800 GTX, there isn't much real-world application for a benchmark suite because it's only good for testing. Crysis was dominated by the mighty 8800 GT, whereas the GTX barely outperformed the GTS in this GPU-heavy game. Cinebench only gave a very small margin back to the GT over the GTX, but when you get to games like World in Conflict the GeForce 8800 GTX still holds itself supreme. Rather confusing results if you look at them on the surface, but when you take into consideration that the future of gaming will be best benefited by memory frame buffer bandwidth you are left with only one clear-cut winner: GT." http://benchmarkreviews.com/index.ph...&limitstart=10

Looks like XFX redesigned the GT's cooler:

Should be. They positioned the fan towards the back of the card as opposed to the front.
