Throw my name on there. Bacchus451 has the eVGA 8800GT 512mb ordered, to be here on Monday. Stock clocks, not superclocked or anything. I'll post benchmarks soon after I get it.

Nice thread!

Hey, do you know if a no-name 550w PSU with +12 @ 17A will be enough for an 8800gt?
I dont have a 6-pin connector so i will use two 4-pin connectors into a 6-pin adapter.

this is what my PSU has written on it:

RED ORANGE YELLOW BLUE PURPLE WHITE GRAY BLACK
+5V +3.3V +12V -12V +5VSB -5V POWER GND
38A 28A 17A 0.8A 2A 0.5A OK

whatever all that means..... the brand is sunpro

thanks for any help

No, sorry but the 8800GTS required at least 26amps on the 12v rail. The GT couldn't be much less, if any.

here is a better table:

RED |__| ORANGE |__| YELLOW |___| BLUE |___| PURPLE |___| WHITE |__| GRAY _|___| BLACK
+5V |__| +3.3V _|__|_ +12V _|___| -12V |___| +5VSB _|___| -5V __|__| POWER |___| GND
38A |__|_ 28A __|__|_ 17A __|___| 0.8A |___|__ 2A __|___| 0.5A _|__|_ OK __|___|
(eg. red wire= +5v and 38A, orange wire= +3.3v and 28A etc.)

The thing i dont understand, is what do u mean by a rail?
because its says on the table on the side of the PSU that the +12v is the yellow wire, so is that the rail? or is it the whole cable that comes from the PSU is one rail? hmmm..

because the +12v is 17A (yellow) , but there are 2 yellow wires in a 4 pin connector... and i will be using two 4 pin connectors into a 6-pin adapter, so does that make it 17x4= 68A?

please help i dont understand

Hrm.. I wonder if my PSU will power it. IT's got two 12V rails listed at 18A each
(http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16817171014)

I know I then don't have 36A.. I should head over to the PSU forum.
