Yeah, it is ridiculous. I am thinking maybe its a driver error? When I first saw it I thought RivaTuner was wrong. I had to set up RivaTuner to start when windows starts, so it would load the higher fan speed.

I think it is definitely a driver issue. Hope they fix it but like you said. Just set it to higher speed for now.

Dang this might be one of nv best cards i dont remmber other 8800s being sold out so fast and often. Thiers a google checkout link with more stores have the 8800gt but nearly all sold out.

Same thing happened to me execpt i went in to buy it at future shop and they had sold it like 10 minutes ago talk about a huge bummer damn consumers lol

AS5 FTW man!

I have to ask, did you keep the original VRAM thermal pads on? Are they reusable? If not, where did you get them? Just wondering for when I get mine this week. I'll see how it does, if it's a bit hot to my liking I'll have to rip off the cooler and add some AS5.

My only concern are the pads...

I'd love to get a VF-1000 on it, but I'm afraid I can't go SLI then. Since I'll have to put a VF-1000 on the second one as well, space is limited on my motherboard.


Anyone tried a Zalman VF-1000 on the card yet?
Maybe I'll stay with a single 8800GT and just overclock it to the max.

Updated my thread for my Accelero S1, added some heatsinks to the Voltage Regulators (added pic). Nothing fancy but should do the job.

Will run some 3dmarks now and post.
