It's been said earlier. 256meg is just not enough for the amount of texture memory needed with today's games.

In fact 256meg really limits the 8800gt. Take Crysis for example, @ 1280x1024 all DX9 HIGH settings uses about 420MB of texture memory.

If you enjoy lots of stuttering or being forced to use medium texture settings with no AA with your games then get the 256mb version.

Thanks. Guys. I have a 20" LCD so I may go for 8800GT 512MB if it drops a bit. My 8600GT works fine but kind of slow in some games.

Has anyone ordered their 8800GT card from CompSource here? I've been trying to scavenge info, but nobody seems to be wondering just where the cards are.
Mine was an MSI OC'ed 8800GT.

The last update I received was:

Though I doubt I'll find them anywhere for 240, it'd be nice to have these before Christmas :/ is there any retailer with the same price out there that is more likely to have them stocked soon?

I think with the same setup on my stock clocked 8800GTS I got around 9200, so this is a sweet upgrade. EVGA has me as a customer for life now from a nice smooth step-up process.
