i say go for it now. you can always wait for the next big thing to come out, but then you'll die of old age. i plan on taking the SLI plunge with a couple of GTs, and the way i see it, the 9-series couldn't be so phenomenal that it just completely buries my setup. it might dig a little hole, but that's about it.

just spoke to PAULV from XFX and they said the fans have been changed from release date so guess i got the older fan, at what level does the original cooler get noisey?
