Would someone please take a high def picture of their naked 8800GT PCB with a ruler next to it? I need a ruler pic of the length and width. Also, would someone be able to take profile shots of the card? I need to know if the height of GDDR3 and other components.

If someone would also measure out the screwholes on the HSF.... thanks!

There has to be a technical blueprint for the card online somewhere...it's a reference design. So, I looked all over and it's apparent reference design white papers do not exist. They must be a closely held secret for some bizarre corporate reason.

I did read on one site that the 8800GT uses the 7 series hole pattern. That's as far as I got. Weird.

You could start a thread of nothing but reference board technical data. That would be sweet.

I will probably get one at some point, and i do solidworks modeling and have a caliper. If i get one, then i will cad it up.
good luck finding the reference specs though.

You may be wondering about the compatibility of that expensive 8800-series water block or air cooler if you decide to buy the 8800GT. Well, it won’t fit.

Here we tried to install an HR-03 Plus onto the EVGA 8800GT:

As you can see, the spacing between the mounting screws is not the same as the other 8800-series cards so it won’t fit. On the other hand, I mentioned that the spacing is identical to that of an 8600GTS and I happened to have one of those around. So I cannibalized it….

And the 8600GTS stock cooler installed perfectly on an 8800GT. The small dab of thermal compound I applied spread pretty evenly with the pressure applied with the stock 8600GTS heatsink. Therefore, I am reasonably sure that any cooler which is compatible with the 8600-series will also be compatible with the 8800GT. Just make sure not to use any 8600-series passive coolers since the G92 core on this card puts out a fair amount of heat.

Next test….something a little different

Here we have the Thermalright HR-11 backplate cooler which LOOKS like it installed perfectly on the EVGA 8800GT…but it didn’t. Unfortunately, the M5 screws which some with the cooler are about ¼” too long due to the minimal thickness of the GT’s cooler. If you choose to go this route, I suggest that you grind down the screws a bit so they fit….or wait until Thermalright adds compatible screws to the HR-11. Another alternative is to run out to a home improvement store and see if you can match the type and threading of the included screws.

Thermalright HR-03GT

Famous cooler producer, Thermalright introduce new VGA radiator for youngest NVIDIA card. HR-03GT is another variant of HR-03. Has 6 heat-pipes and only 130 grams of weight. His dimension are 156x129x51 and/or 163x135x112. Thermalright suggest to buy additional 92/80x25mm fan and guarantee 30 degrees lower GPU temperature (in their test it was 37).

sorry it looks kinda crappy, but atleast you have some dimentions all mesurements are to the middle of the screw.

some idea of how high up the HSF sit as well as how tall the memory chips are. each dash is 1/32 from looking at it in real life i think the HSF is 3/32nds above the PCB

Awesome! Just what I needed. I plan on doing a two part design. I have a bunch of 5x2" HS that I plan to cut. I want to use one to cover just the VRM and be held by two screws. Then I plan to make another HS for the RAM. Send the pics to DuckieHo@gmail.com if you can.
