Gasp! MSI's 9600 looks like an ATI card!

Actually it looks like the 8800GT version which comes from the factory with a Zalman cooler on it. If it's not Zalman it's a very close replica.

Pic.

The only difference on this one appears to be the plastic cover which I really can't see helping things unless it's meant to disperse heat out the sides. The Zalman cooler doesn't have any cover on it and it apparently works quite well.

Pic.

If MSI had a lifetime warranty I'd probably go with it just because I feel that single slot cards need a beefier cooling solution.

Peronsally, everything other than 9800gtx won't be a good idea to upgrade especially if you have G92 GT or GTS. So, I would stick with G92 until 9800GTX comes out.

1GB version?

In my opinion this is nothing more than a cash grab because any card with 1GB of memory rarely scores higher than one with 512MB. Maybe if the interface was 512MB like the new GTX will be but not the 9600GT.

I see no visible difference between this one and the pic that you posted linskingdom so it may be a bogus post.
