Me thinks NVidia thinks it is too good and will regret putting out such weak cards when ATI unveils their new 4000 series.

SANTA CLARA, CA—FEBRUARY 21, 2008—NVIDIA® Corporation, the world leader in visual computing technologies, has unveiled the first graphics processing unit (GPU) of its next-generation GeForce® 9 Series that may offer the largest single-generation performance jump in the Company’s history. Introduced today, the NVIDIA GeForce 9600 GT GPU delivers up to 116%[i] more performance than its predecessor at a price below $199.
“After going to all the GeForce LANs and seeing the rigs that gamers play on, we wanted to kick off the GeForce 9 with the perfect GPU for gamers,” said Ujesh Desai, general manager of GeForce desktop GPUs at NVIDIA. “The first product to be introduced in the GeForce 9 family gives gamers the horsepower to play cutting-edge DirectX 10 games at a price they will love and can afford.”

Default GeForce 9800GTX have flagship card length

Quote:
9800GX2 and3870 X2’s length comparison. The are at the same length. So does the new 9800GTX.

The length of a graphic card sometimes reflects the card’s performance and the market place in the same gen. look at these new flatship card, they got the same card size, 267mm.(but because of 9800 GX2 have a dual slot shell, so it just look bigger)

9800GTX is not a flagship card but it also as long as 267mm, a flatship length. That’s because P392 PCB design adds a Mio connector for the 3-way-SLI

ok this is going to sound noob but why do i keep seeing gpu's with 8-pin and 6-pin plugs? where do they get the extra 8-pin from? you have to use an adapter or something?

Well of course the high end power supplies now come with the 8 and 6 pin plugs but other than that you use adaptors and I don't know for sure but I have been told the adaptors should come with the video card. I have also seen somewhere that the 8 pin plug isn't always necessary and you can get away with a 6 pin in there somehow.
