yeah, thats the article i was talking about...do you think that 9600GT in SLI would perform better than 8800GT SLI?

well, im confident that 8800GT SLI would be better after a little bit of looking. 8800GT's also seem to overclock better.

Well, after seeing that Direct Canada has the Gigabyte version on for about $175 I'm thinking I could use that extra $30-$50 to bump up my processor too. 2160 or 2180 is probably what I'll do since my 805 will severely limit things.
Crieps! The Palit Sonic looks sweet!

look like some great cards...I personally can't wait to upgrade my processor to an e8300 when they come out (the 8.5 multiplier is perfect for my system) and see what my 8800GT can do!

Ok, these reviewers need to stop arsing around and get to what we all want to know.
Scores of the various 9600GT's compared to 8800GT's and their ATI competition, 3850 and 3870 AS WELL AS their overclocked scores all in one easy to find test. My money is hinging on whether or not I can save some cash, pick up a 9600GT and overclock it to where it can hold it's own with the 8800GT and sink the extra into a CPU. I don't care what the card can do overclocked when compared to itself. I want to see what it can do while overclocked in comparison to other cards. Also, who puts out a review in this day and age without overclocking a card? C'mon! Especially where many companies now have lifetime warranties that are OC friend. ***EDIT*** Galaxy is at it again with their OC and KAF2 versions. I can't find a any difference of the two other than the color/design of the heatsink shroud. Same two slot cooler, same IO, same clock speeds for all three values and their overclocking software is included with both. The KAF2 isn't even listed on their website! I shouldn't be surprised and I'm having a case of deja vu because I swear I posted nearly the same question when they launched their 8800GT. Any ideas?

Oh, I'm aware of that but in my mind I'm happy with being able to overclock a card to it's next closest competitor even if that next closest competitor can overclock as well putting it out of range.
Kind of like how I'm happy my plain ol' 8600GTS can overclock to the specs of the XXX model. ***EDIT*** Back tot he Galaxy cards, NCIX and Direct Canada (sister stores/sites) have the OC and KAF2 models listed with the same model number so it appears that the only difference is the cooler shroud.

Just figured I'd share this quote from one of our clan members when we were talking about possable price drops of 88's when the 98's come out.
"We talked to an Nvidia rep a few weeks ago who was in for a video system we're installing, and he said that they were thinking about going to the model that Intel is using now...where they bring in the new cards at the same price points as the old ones, and start immediately phasing out the older version, rather than continuing to make them. It frees up inventory space for the oems and keeps the technology moving forward. So you may not see many price drops other than when they start trying to clear out overstock." [SYN]Aielman

Unless the price : performance ratio is the same.
