I'm new to over clocking, and so, I've come here for help. Again, I have an 8600 gts with the core bus at 675 mhz and the memory bus at 1008 mhz. Also my motherboard reference clock is at 200 mhz.
Right now, my GPU temp is 54 C and nforce is 31 C. What I want to know is, what are some recommended settings for over clocking this card. What procedure should I follow, and what is the heat threshold for this card to become damaged. Are there any programs besides nvidia control panel i should use? Also, any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks! |

kinda high temps there. my 7900gto is only 40c at light usage. make sure you are getting good airflow in your case. then download coolbits. its a lil registry file that will add an overclock feature in your nvidia settings for your card. just click detect optimal and wait. thats all

I have three case fans, all of them move air over the GPU. One is directly over the gpu, another is on the side panel of my Case and it hits both the CPU and the GPU.
I still would like to know what temp is too high and possibly settings that any of you have it on. |

Your temps are perfectly fine. Both of mine idle between 45-50*C....so no worries on your temps. Download and try out RivaTuner to overclock, and ATI Tools to stress them. If you're running Vista...well I personally can't help you there as I'm having the same issue myself...but RivaTuner works fine in XP. Its supposed to work in Vista as well...I just haven't figured it out yet.
Hope this helps ya. Oh, and you also might want to click the button at the top of this page...says User CP. Go in there, and on the left side, add your computer specs in there. That'll help us help you easier in the future.

Ahh, I was wondering if I should leave the memory clock alone. If I just overclock the Core and Shader clock (linked) I can get a pretty good overclock on it, just not all 3 of them (core/shader/mem) together.
