Thumbs up 9600GT OC good or bad?

Some one said something in my other thread about rumors of overclocking this card giving a lower score on benchmarks. I ran the tests and just thought I'd post a thread with my results for everyone.

I'm using an EVGA geforce 9600 GT 512MB

This is before overclocking, with factory settings of:

Core 675MHz
Memory 900MHz

This is after overclocking to the following settings:

Core 720MHz
Memory 950MHz

It seems like a pretty good boost to the score IMO. I'm no expert with benchmarking, but I don't see how overclocking this card is bad. Looks good to me.

My CPU is overclocked from 2.33 to 2.8. It was not changed between both tests. I had just posted this because someone said they heard that when you overclocked this card you actually got a lower score than with it at factory settings. Just wanted to share my findings

for that little of an overclock, maybe, but a 9600 should be able to put more out, shouldn't it?

I didn't push it. I think you could go passed that. I'm actually running it a little higher right now with the core at 730. But I just stopped there because I was sure it was stable and just wanted to see if there would be a difference in scores. You could probably push it further I would think. But I'm good where it's at (I probably won't be able to control myself one day and push it lol)

I've easily pushed it to 3.2 and I'm sure I could go further. I just have it linked with my memory right now overclocked to 960MHz and everything is running perfect so I was content to leave it where it's at. But I love this CPU. I got it to 3.2 with no problems and the temps under load didn't even go above 34 idle, 40 load.

Sorry. I forgot to list that in my system info. I'm using the Masscool 8WA741. I looked at many reviews before deciding on this one. This thing is a good price for what it does. I've had 2 and both have been great coolers. Using AS5 paste with it.
