I have the 640MB version and I max out any game I have except for Crysis. Crysis - High 1600x1200, DX10, 64-bit... Avg FPS = 25. I can run CoD4 @ 1600x1200 with max everything, including AA and Filtering and still run it smooth as a baby's behind. So good in fact that I just turn on that VSync and run it even smoother. The 8800GTS (G80), while an older model, is still one hell of a card. It beats out the 3850 and runs right with 3870. I vote for the 8800GTS. 320MB will be fine if you are running lower res than 1600x1200.

"I voted for you to keep your current card, I'm sure it does just fine in DX9 at your resolution. Maybe you'll have to turn some things down (shadows, shaders, probably not texture though)."

7950gt is a joke of a card, my 9600gt gets double the fps of it.

Don't buy anything under 512mb of vram. Shell out an extra $30 or so and get a 9600gt... It's well worth the money

Yeah if you dont play any dx10 right now I would just hang on to your current card. Maybe at most get a good cooler and oc it a little if you arent allready.

Ofcourse if you can sell your current card after you buy a new one and recoop some of the money it wont be to bad, in which case that deal on the 8800gts is pretty good. I dont have any real complaints with mine except that it wont oc worth a darn.

What I do is get the near top of the line of the last series for about $130-150.

That's how much I bought this 7950GT for.

That's because it's two series' newer and a couple years ahead technology wise.

And like I said before I've heard nothing but bad things about the 9600GT, so I'm 100% sure I'm not going to get one.

You can't criticize something if you don't actually use it

Either way you won't be happy with those 2 cards you listed, your 7950gt will actually perform better in some games once that 256/320mb barrier is broken.

Hehe. I've just heard about how a lot of em crash games and I really haven't heard anything good about the 9600GTs until now.

Then again, most posts here about problems and not about how stuff works so great.
