I got mine from 580/700 to 750/960, but that is with the xfx one, you can now get the evga for 109.99 with the samsung chips and that could probably go over 1000mhz on the memory.

The 8800GS uses a G92?!??! Sick. As soon as I have the last bit of money ready that's what I'm getting.

Now should I get the EVGA one or the XFX one?

The 8800 GS was a good deal when I got it recently for $110 after a mail-in rebate. With the stock cooler I overclocked an additional 24% by raising the GPU from 580 MHz to 720, shaders 1450 MHz to 1800, and the memory 1400 MHz to 2000 MHz, a 43% overclock. This videocard may be on par with a 9600 GT and close to 8800 GT graphics, non-overclocked of course. A significant upgrade from my BFG 7900 GS OC.

At 1280 x 1024 , Crysis all max settings gives me very playable frame rates and an avg 35fps at 1024 x 768, No AA. With 2X AA, very playable frame rates at 1024 x 768.

Also with COD4 at 1600 x 1200 all max settings I get an avg 40+fps
And with Supreme Commander at 1600 x 1200 all max settings - 35+fps

I think its now available on NewEgg.com for $120

Is that cooler loud? Also, is the 8800GS that you linked the same one you have?

It's a good thing to hear that it's a significant upgrade from a similar 79x0 card.

And how does it run Oblivion (if you have it). I have it for PC and Xbox and just play the xbox version because the PC version drops frames every few seconds for me.

Because I don't have a 64bit OS. Plus I don't use up the 2GB I have now.

It can't even remotely handle Oblivion with everything on low (or off) at 1440x900.

I played obivion with my 7950GT 256mb card at 1600x1200 with high settings, just no shadows on grass or tree shadows and it played fine.

Mine just drops frames every few seconds and it's just enough to make it feel unplayable.
