Default 8800GTS 320MB or 3850 256MB?

I'm thinking about upgrading my current GPU with something for at or under $150, so I'm eying the 8800GTS 320MB and the 3850 256MB and am wondering which is better.

If you think theres another GPU that fits my at or under $150 description and is better than a 8800GTS 320MB and a 3850 256MB, please post it here.

definitely in this case get the 8800GTS 320. It is a good deal with the rebate for $114. If you could spend a little more I would say get the 9600GT but the GTS is a great card for that low price.

1440x900

And I don't have any games that utilize DX10.

Since you have no DX10 games, either card will max out everything you have just the same. Me, personally, I'd go with the 3850, but the 8800 would do the job just as well. The only place it'd be better in is e-peen waving contests, but I assume you don't attend those.

Lol. I don't even know what those are.

And if that's true I'll probably end up with the 8800GTS. I'm not an Nvidia fanboy or anything, it's just that I've never had a single problem with Nvidia cards, so why try something new?

if you can afford it you would be better off with a 3870 512, or a 9600GT 512... the ones on newegg are around the same price as the 8800GTS 320

wrong, you can't get either of those cards for $114 after MIR. Check the link I posted.

I've heard nothing but bad things about the 9600GT so it's out, and the 3870 is $40 more. I really want to keep things under $150 if I can because I get a new GPU every 5-7 months.

I'll still think about the 3870 though.

9600GT isn't that bad... but yeh a 3870 would be a better card, its closer to the 8800GT if anything

this is the cheapest one i could find on newegg... good card with a good cooler though
