I was never a big fan of the futuremark bench applications, but that had more to do with my inferior GFX cards from eons gone by... Undoubtedly others already know this, but increased memory clock significantly boosts HDR/SM3.0 scores. Prior to this mornings bench session I had kept my memory clocks between 1000-1013mhz. Well, after I found that my core/shader clocks limits were near identical to their linked speed (840mhz core / 2100mhz shader) I decided to tweak my memory -> 1103mhz and I may yet have a little more headroom.
you're right , I've tested myself this thing 1 month ago and I second that ; the main thing it's the bandwidht which it shouldn't be saturated due an high core clock . That's why overclocking 8800GT don't allow a valuable result, over 800 of core ; at the same time you will need more bandwidht and only a >1.0ns pair of ram will allow better results .

We'll see what will happen with these new GTX cards, especially at 850-900 of core and 1200+ of ram in opposition to GTS 512 at the same core-shaders frequency but 1100 of ram .

Btw , the more you go further with the core, the more you'll need to lower the ram ; I don't know why but it seems that it's like this . I should test more but I've benched at 1192 of ram with my GTS 512 (asus, the normal one) .

While many believe memory clock isn't as important it's still worthwhile to tweak especially once you have determined the upper limits of the core/shader. I had been planning to upgrade my monitor and CPU next, now I think I'll upgrade my CPU and go WC instead. Perhaps H20 + v-mod will make 900mhz+ core / 2250mhz + mem / 2250mhz + shader achievable? 9800GTX... What's that?

The same thing happened to me when I went for 845mhz core / 2110mhz shader... Lower score after an OC means the OC wasn't stable.

I've looked into WC, but holy crap that's expensive ><... I'll probably just buy either a GT200/RV770 when it comes out and upgrade my grandmas rig with my current 8800GTS .

Thanks for sharing your results! I doubt the GTXs will OC upwards of 900mhz core without a v-mod, but I guess I'll have to do some digging to find out for sure...

Obviously WITH a Vmod .. 900MHz on the core it's a lot , too much to handle with a 4 phase power source and 1.15-1.2V on the Vcore .. They could improve it with the new 55nm version but I doubt that with 170+ SP we could reach such frequency , in total stability (Rock Solid, RS) .

Have a look here too : http://www.overclock.net/nvidia/3202...i-bench-4.html 9800GTX VS 8800GTS 512 both at the same frequency

I'd kind of like to know how the heck you guys are getting such monster clocks! In my sig, i can reach 752 core, 1916 shader, 1052 memory stable. Anything past that is a suicide run for me. That's WITH my fan at 100%...and I load almost on the dot at 55*C on my GPU. Hmmm, got me stumped, lol. Great job though...wish mine could clock that high.

EVGA 8800GTS ? I have a simple ASUS .. With default cooler at 100% It've been possible to bench at 800-2000-1166+(not more because of it's useless at such core clock) but it was like a raging tornado . Now I've changed cooler as you can see but only 810-1944-1192 it's benchable .

Both my 8800 GTS died. Saving up for 2 more GTX260.
