Update my specs please; I upgraded:

9800GTX - EVGA - 800/2000/2200

Here's a pic, these mothers are HUGE - I can't clear the CMOS or even access the PCB on the bottom half of the motherboard:

And before anyone says it, yes these aren't much better performance wise than 8800 GTS's, but I'm hoping some future drivers will change that.

Default Installing SLI

While I am waiting for my 8800GT's to be delivered, I was going over how to set them up properly and thought to ask for advice in the SLI club !

This is what I have so far:

uninstall my nvidia display drivers (169.44)
power down
uninstall my G80 GTS and install 1 8800GT
boot up and install driver, check for stability and temperatures
stock 3dmark06 run
?? OC card with Riva and then another 3dmark06
?? uninstall display drivers again
power down
install 2nd card and SLI bridge
boot up and install drivers
enable SLI in nv control panel
3dmark06 in SLI

any advice would be appreciated, I want to do this right!!!

That's how I've always done it, and without issue. Don't forget to connect the goldfingers with SLI ribbon cable (I forgot that once). Also, an extra video card puts out a lot of extra heat, so consider your cases airflow. And for that matter, and you may know this, but I would modify the fan profile in Riva Tuner and set the cards' fans to 100%.

ok cool thanks!

I'm also using a CM690 with 8x120mm fans so it should'nt be a problem, 4x88cfm loons, 2x79cfm antecs on the side panel, 1x110cfm FM121 as rear exhaust, and a 44cfm coolermaster in the bottom of the case. I am curious to see if my PSU can keep up.

I will definitely use Riva to crank the fans on the cards up. Is it the top one that will be hottest?

Neither card is hotter than the other for me. I have so many fans, as you know, that they both get equal amounts of airflow. You shouldn't have a problem with one being hotter. I have two 79 CFM fans blowing on my cards from the side panel, as well as the front case fan blowing to rear, and I rigged an 75 CFM 80mm fan to the hard drive cage to carry the current along between them. Also, My Big Typhoon blows air straight down, so it helps get plenty of air flow to the top card.

Your PSU should be ok. What's the total amperage on the 12v rail(s)?
