I am curious of what mode you guys are using with SLI, I was advised to use alt frame rendering 2 but was curious what the others perform like?

hopefully i am getting a striker 2 formula from RMA as one of the ram sockets died on my p5k premium, i have a few things to do after i get the mobo, such as buy my monitor and buy an x-fi sound card.
Now heres the question, do you think i would benefit from a second BFG 8800GTS 512, if i do that i will need to upgrade my psu though. what are your thoughts

Lo peeps,
This is my first post and I'm straight in with a problem!! Looked for a similar prob on the forums but can't find it, this site is blooming huuuuge!! My system: Asus P5N-E sli mobo Q6600 cpu 4gb Crucial Ballistix RAM Corsair HX620 PSU Graphics card? Well, thats the issue!! I have an EVGA 8800GT SSC with the Zalman VF900 fan bolted on. Very happy with the card except with Crysis, same old problem, just want to run at V high settings, 1680*1050. So I bought an Inno Wind edition 8800GT to run in sli with the EVGA. Popped them in the case, slower Inno at the top, changed the sli card round on the mobo, connected sli bridge etc. Booted up, installed latest driver (175.16). Then restarted, nvidia software found sli config. Everything going well so far. Started Speedfan and GOOD LORD !! Mobo temps VERY hot. Up to 60c load. Played Crysis for a while, FPS little better, 5 more FPS average than single card and 20 more FPS MAX. BUT after 5 mins, game froze, stuttered then PC turned off. Tried COD 4 next, FPS LOT better, 40 more FPS average than single card. BUT, again after 5 mins, game froze, stuttered then PC died!! So all in all I'm happy with the sli, my problems are: Heat and crashing. I'm guessing this is a compatability problem between the cards, but I did do my home work before and believed the difference in speeds should not matter. What do you guys think? |
