Default SLi with different clock speeds?

Hi all,

does anyone know if you can run 2 x 8800GTX's in SLi if one is an overclocked version and the other is stock?

It will automatically overclock or underclock both cards to the clock speeds of the card in PCI slot 1.

Yes you can. It will simply run both cards at the slowest clocks of the slowest card.

u sure can as long as the slower clocked vid card is in the 1st pci-e slot. u should be good. it's like ram u can have diff speeds but it will always run at the slowest speed.

Yes. When using two graphics cards with differing default core and memory clocks, the faster of the two cards will lower its clocks to match the speeds of the lower card.

But that slower speed really wouldn't be that big of a deal if you use rivatuner and bump them up again

Thanks for all the responses.

Ive read the link provided but am still unsure about one thing. My mobo has 3 x PCI-E slots, so can I still run SLi AND 2 monitors off the 3rd card in the remaining slot??

Not when SLi is enabled. Let's say you had two 8800GTX cards in SLi and a seperate 8600GT, you couldn't run multiple monitors unless you disabled SLi. This is down to the fact that conflicts would arise as the cards in SLi would take priority over the single card.

Yes. Though you will only see one slider bar for the core and one slider bar for the memory, any alterations you make to the clock speeds of core and memory will be applied to both cards simultaneously.
