Well, I won't be quite that blunt, but I must ask...why?

First and foremost, why a 8800 GTS? Seems that a single-slot 8800GT from the same manufacturer would have been a much more appropriate choice. At this performance level, you're seriously CPU-bound anyways, so the minimal performance increase is a moot point...

Regardless, best of luck with your mutilated graphics card...

Ok fair enough.

I don’t know how I would have gotten a variable speed fan on, dell mobo has no 4 pins aside form the one master fan. Unless I want to link a fan to the regular power cords, then they could run at 100% 100% of the time.

Yeah voiding the warranty not so smart…but I have had decent luck till this point. So I did not care to much.

The air flow does not seem to be TO compromised for the athlon atm. But I have no real way of checking it to be sure. So you could be very right. the air still pass through the heatsink reletivley the same.

Lastly I doubt you could offend me.

Well, I can tell you from experience, Athlon 64's RUN HOT with stock voltage...which is what your Dell gives it. Secondly, the stock Dell cooling SUCKS ASS to begin with (excuse my language)....and you have completely ruined the stock cooling....so your CPU cooling now consists of an aluminum heatsink with NO FANS....not gonna cool that processor.

Please read post #30...I pretty much summed up what you can do to repair any damage that may be done. I'd stay away from running that computer until you get some cooling issues fixed. You could SERIOUSLY damage that computer royally.

I put a Zalman VF900 on my 8800GT and it has the fan mate controller so no mobo fan header needed.
