I already stated that...see post #30.

NitroDell:
You may just scrap the Dell (if possible), and just buy a whole new build. You're running Socket 939, 939 dual core processors get expensive quick (old technology), and you also may not know FOR SURE if your Dell motherboard will accept it. I'd recommend a whole new build instead of a CPU upgrade.

ok so question here.

There are no brackets around the cpu, all the cpu coolers i see need some brackets around the cpu..

what do i do in that aituation. Beacuse ot be honest that was my first idea. ditch the shroud, and get a nice cooling sink and fan...but no can do as far as i can see.

You just need a Socket AM2 cooler. Should just clip onto the board. I don't know if Dell has an alternative method though....

EDIT: I thought it was 939, my bad.

I thought it was 754 as well at first until I noticed it was 2.0GHz, the 754 3200+ is 2.2GHz...I didn't even know they even MADE single core CPU's for AM2.....so I assumed 939, lol.

I don't know for sure if your motherboard will even take an aftermarket cooler. You may very easily need a new board to mount a cooler to it. Best to just zip tie a good fan to it for now....just to keep it from overheating.
