Well i had a Zalman VF-1000 laying around on my old 8600GT and i felt like it was going to waste so i wanted a way to use it on my 9800GTX but to this day there hasn't been any aftermarket coolers made for the 9800GTX yet, so impatience me decided to make it work
![]() After a few days of working my butt off in the machine shop, i had made these ram heatsinks. ![]() using "Setsuki" thermal tape that i got off ebay for about 5$ it works great for 4ft of it. (it came with 6 long strips of thermal tape and i only ended up using just one strip) The only pain was that the "White Thermal Paste" that came with the stock cooler seemed to be oil-based of some sort and made it kind of hard getting the heatsinks to stick. But i just took a few cd's and added weight to made sure they stuck on. More Pictures: ![]() To the left is the Zalman VF-1000, Above the card is the stock cooler(yes i did reapply AS5 so don't count on Nvidia actually not giving you more than enough thermal grease lol) ![]() ![]() (I keep my SLI bridge on my card only because i don't want to lose it) EDIT: Oh yeah, i almost forgot to tell you guys the temps: Stock: Fan: Auto. 50C idle - 66C load (even though i never use auto.) Fan:100% 39-40Cidle - 59C load After my mod: 32C idle - 48-50C load ALL on 850/2125/1245 so far. thanks for reading, this is my first BIG post

Wow, great work! Very resourceful.
Would you have any idle/load temps for the inquiring minds here?

how much was that eVGA memory cooler? Does it work on every motherboard? I am thinking about getting a memory cooler, but not sure if it is worth it. I have 4GB of corsair memory

pretty much anything that will fit on a 8800gtx will fit on a 9800gtx.. i just installed the ht-30 GT on the same exact video card.
