Go for the GTX since you will be running 1680X1050. You will also see the card shine after you add all the AA/AF. You should be set if you decide to go higher resolution as well.

8800GTS 640MB goes for $200 other place you wont be getting better deal then this get it before the deal ends.
8800 GTS 320MB does good at 1280x1080 resolution so if u have 22inch 8800gts 640mb would be best choice.

9600gt and the 8800gts will perform quite similarly tho 9600gt will consume much less power, but it is worth getting the 8800gt for 20-30$ more.

Alright, I have one for you. This is an XFX 8800GT 512MB for $169.99 covered by a double lifetime warranty. It also comes with an after-market Zalman cooler. If anything happens to the card you have a great warranty backing your product.

Is that a better deal then the 8800gts 640mb? How much more fps would you get for a 8800gt instead of a 8800gts 640mb.

the 8800GT is ~20% faster than the 8800gts 640

edit: so yes, the 8800gt is a better deal.

i payed over $270 for mine at launch, and it was worth it. $170 with a aftermarket cooler is a steal.

the 9600GT is a better value because it will use ~40W less, perform about the same and has pure video 2 for offloading hd stuff. the 9600gt is a better deal. but if you can spend a little more, the 8800gt is even better. if not, go for the 9600gt, preferably the EVGA one
