So I have a PNY 8800GT 512mb at 600/900. Will OC it any higher really improve FPS in gameplay? Is it really worth the risk of damaging the card? If the OC can really improve FPS, What programs and how should I do it to make this happen?

goto 655/955 if its stable you can increase somemore i i wouldnt go past like like 725 tho oh and the diffirence is sort of noticeable but then again an 8800 shouldnt be struggling reguardless

![]() ![]() I got two of them here... very good cards. Aftermarket cooling will drop ur temps 10c too.. But I never saw them above 74 OC'd with stock either.. Ive been using the EVGA Precision tool for OCing as of late.. It will allow you to adjust core/shader/mem/fan which IMO is all ya need.. Unlink core/shader and raise clocks in intervals of 10 (or so) and run ATI TOOL to "Scan For Artifacts" When you begin to see little yellow dots, lower the clock about 10-15 and move to the nxt one and repeat process.. I dont recommend putting the mem clock higher than 1000.

Got 1 PNY @ 740, 1800, 950 and another Gigabyte at the same.
Not had any trouble with them. Running Thermalright HR-03's Rev A with fans ![]() Keeps them 40 Idle 50 Load. Happy ![]() Don't be scared to overclock it - I did this by: Overclocking the Core by 10 - 20 mhz a time - running ATI Tool and looking for artifacts. Do this until you get an artifact and then drop the core back down. Then go on to the shader clock and then on to the Memory. I believe that the more shader your overclock - the less the core will go. I don't know which is better to have but i'm going with the higher core ![]() Good luck

Ok well i got it to 730/1720/970 on stock cooling at 69C max with the artifact running for 5 minutes. Stock cooling cause I have no money to spend for a aftermarket cooler.
