After having assembled my new PC, as shown in my signature, with no major issues (besides the LGA775 cooler clips being VERY difficult to mount), I did my first boot, and installed XP Pro 32-bit without any trouble.
__________________Now, after booting I had some issues with an I/O error from my SATA DVD reader but a rollback of the SATAIDE driver from the current one on Nvidias page to version 10.3.0.21 for the 680i chip set fixed that. Everything else is from the 9.46 package from Nvidia, as found on ASUS's website. When all that was done, I wanted some performance checks. I am not into current games and don't expect this rig to be able to shred Crysis to bits, but Team Fortress 2 on suggested settings is unplayable. (Model and textures on high, no AA or Anisotropic Filtering). Similar issues with recommended settings for FarCry, and in that game, it still stuttered, even on low settings. The GeForce drivers are the newest ones, 175.16. Even my old desktop, an HP with a 256mb 6800 GT and a P4 2.53 GHz and 1 GB RAM handled FarCry better, so there's definately a problem somewhere. Could it be caused by the 680i drivers? Or some other incompatibility? I have read of recent SATA issues with the 700i chipsets, but I think I hve that fixed. Are there any other drivers I might have forgotten to install? I have no other devices installed physically. Any suggestions/feedback/comments/etc is much appreciated. Kris Just gonna summarize my set-up: ASUS P5N-D 750i Mobo running nForce 9.46 drivers except for SATAIDE driver. BFG 9600 GT OC 512 Mb grfx running GeForce 175.16 4 GB Ram (windows only sees 3.25, but that was expected) Intel C2D E6550 @ 2.33 GHz

have you tried running any benchmarks? it makes it alot easier to figure out whats wrong if there are some numbers to look at.

__________________Which ones are generally used? As far as I can gather it's PcMark05 and 3DMark06? I vaguely recall my other desktop scoring ~6000 I thinkin 3Dmark06, if that helps : D Will run em on both, in the morning.

6000 is a bit low for you setup. souce engine and Far cry should be no probem since i play them fine with a score of 3700 in sig rig. I say it driver problem. Install lattest stable.

TF2 isn't exactly an easy game to run. But at 1440x900 (or similar) resolution you should at least be able to play on all high 4xAA 8xAF with very good frames.

Problem is, that IS the latest stable drivers. Nvidia offer 175.16 for the grfx card, and the nForce combination I have installed is the latest, stable, combination offered.

Yeah, I would expect that too! I am even running on an even smaller, 15" 1024x768 LCD, due to desk space. I should be getting awesome FPS. Do you know of any way to monitor your FPS in a source game, by the way?

Try net_graph 3 in the console.

Did you try any other drivers before the 175.16?
