Default Best Single Video card

Through ALOT of trial and error I have figured out that with my SAS RAID card I cannot have multiple graphics cards.

When the SAS controller is in the middle PCIe X16 slot I get a BSOD after the initial vista install. I do not use SLI but i do run dual monitors using two graphics cards (at least I used to before SAS)

I love to CRAZY read, write, and access time of my 4X 15K RAID 0 setup so I am not willing to give that up. I currently have both monitors on one graphics card.

I would like to use the middle PCIe X16 slot for my second video card but I am starting to think this is not possible.

Can i use my middle PCIe X16 slot for a graphics cards?

If not, what is the best single graphics card? I currently have 2 8800GT's, will an 9800 GX2 outperform my 2 8800GT's?

Thanks,
Paul

The best single card right now is the 9800gx2. The 8800gt SLI is, I think, more powerful, but it depends on what resolution you're using.

EDIT: The 8800gt SLI is more powerful than the GX2, but then again, the benchmarks were done with a 1920x1200 resolution.

I am running both monitors at 1680 X 1050. I do not play alot of games but do alot of CAD so I need powerful graphics.

Anyone know if I can have a graphics card in the middle slot of my 790i Ultra?
