Another vote for 8800GT SLI

it will probably lose against SLI 8800GT's by about 50%....soo say the 9800 got 30FPS , the 8800GT's will get say 45fps......

BUT , if a game like grid comes out , a single 9800 will win , cos grid aint SLI.....

look at the games you want to play , cos not all games support sli , and saying "all the latest games will support sli" aint true...lots of games will use the dirt engine in the future...etc......

just my 2c
What? GRID doesn't need SLI, lol. Maxed it with single card on 1920x1200, no doubt a 8800GT can do the same on lower resolutions. I have to say the engine is much more optimized than it was in DiRT.

Games I play:
Crysis
GTA San Andreas (hehe, its still good)
GTA IV when it comes out
Quake 3 and 4
COD 4
Need for speed series

Yeah, thats about the main ones. But i rekon even in the games that dont support SLI, i will still be pretty well off with 1 nicely OC 8800GT though wouldnt i?
Considering you already have one 8800GT the decision is pretty clear

nice link there. WIll read up on it. Will these setups likely power a 24" monitor nicely? Also, will there be any issues with the 500W silverstone PSU (see sig)?
Also, another game i play is testdrive unlimited, but i can play that on max anyway with 1 8800GT

I'd go with 8800GT also. Seeing as one of them already performs great in Crysis, Call of Duty 4 & GRID, why not get a second one for 1920x1200?

not talking about if it needs or doesent need , what im saying is , is the one drawback that iv been pissed off about is a few games dont use sli!........soo in the rare time that a game doesent use sli.....the fastest gpu wins!

as I said before...you need to know what games ur gonna be playing tbh....

been looking at reviews of 9800GTX vs 8800GT...and the results are pretty surprising for me....i mean , the 9800GTX has 128sp , and 8800GT has "only" 112...but manages to perform almost identical!??...9800 is at best 10% faster...

I havent seen any bech of 8800GT Sli vs 9600GT sli but from what i know 8800GT single beats the 9600GT by not alot. When in comes to SLI 9600GT scales better so does this make them equal?

time is money. just get another 8800gt and SLI! since u want ur native resolution which is pretty high, 8800gt last longer than 9600gt when newer games come out?

idk. my vote is a second 8800gt. u can probably find one for a good deal around 130-150 US dollar (most likely with rebates, ironically, time consuming which goes againt my "time is money" statement")

do wat u wish.
