i'm happy owner of two ASUS 8800GTS640 cards which can pull almost any game to the max on my 1680x1050 native resolution screen, but after playing a bit of GRID i realised how hot they get when cranked up to the max settings & 4aa.
i use rivatuner (2.09) to profile clock and fan settings - when i'm playing games i set the GPU stock coolers to 100%. previously i had overclocked them to 550/880, but since i did some cooling upgrades to my rig i now pushed them to 600/960. GPUs reach ~55-60C idle but ~80-90C on load which worries me alot, i mean i have 3 120mm fans blowing in full on + ANTEC SPOT COOL blowing right onto GPUs + 100% on GPU fans and still such high temperatures!!! and its not that worm here in london! i'm now thinking of buying an aftermarket cooler but after googling, all i found are designs that only fit into single card setups not the SLI configurations. could anyone please recommend some sort of cooling solution? or some GPU cooler they found working fine with two cards? i'm thinking of applying some Arctic Silver 5 which i have plenty of, but afraid it wouldn't do much though. *Edit* Sorry. I read 8800GT in the title...My friend just bought an AC cooler (Arctic cooling)
Alright I did a search for that cooler and here it is. http://www.arctic-cooling.com/vga2.php?idx=154 http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...elero%2bXtreme $54 dollars, but to keep your 8800GTS cool, it might be worth it. SLi compatable as well. Hope this helped!

thanks SugarySnack for the link, i will most probably consider this one as its thin profile cooler unlike the rest i've seen.
btw, after googling for AS5 mods with this card i found that it always helps as stock thermal paste isnt good at all. so during my day off i spent couple of hours today taking my cards apart and applying AS5 on them... so far i see that my cards run about 5C cooler on idle... didnt test the load but hope it will be lower than 80C that i previously had. ohh i had to waste 2.5 AS5 for them!!!
