Specifically, comparing an 8800GT and a 9600GT. Same manufacturer, same price. The 8800GT has 112 processors vs the 9600GT's 64, but a 65 MHz lower clock speed.
What are the advantages of having one over the other?

They are different cores, but the 8800GT will out perform the 9600GT

How does a 4850 have 800 stream processors? A GTX 2xx doesn't have half that many.

It's like comparing engines. A very big line 4 can be more powerful than a tiny V6.

OK, thanks, cuz I'm looking to buy today and I have no idea what I want. It's gotta be under $200, and I've always sorta been an NVidia guy (probably cuz I'm an Intel guy and ATI = AMD). It seems to me like the 4850 is a lot of hype because it's so new.

4850 is almost twice as fast as an 8800GT

What would I have to buy to get 4850 performance in an NVidia card? Probably nothing in my price range, since those GTX's are so expensive.

Well, looks like I might as well spend the extra $50 for a 4850 over an 8800GT if it's nearly double the performance.
Is VisionTek the only ATI manufacturer that offers a lifetime waranty? Is a lifetime warranty even worth it? Sorry if this has all been asked/said before.
