Thanks!
No, it would´t, you should be fine even at stock.

You can get a Phenom 9550 for that or if put in a extra $15 you can get a 9750 or you can take a Athlon 64 X2 6400+ for about $145.

I know its a B2 Phenom, but its a good price for an unlocked quad.
You would probably OC this better than a B3 OCing w/ fsb.

for gaming performance I would recommend the 6400+ CPU

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16819103228

but If quad is what you want and plan to overclock then go for the 9600 BE with the unlocked multi.

I think a quad on that board would be a waste with bios issues and chocked ht.I would go with a 6000 or 6400.this is about the score your looking at with a 6000 oc'd to 3.4 and those 8800s.

CoD4 is actually CPU limited in my rig.
@1280x1024 3.2Ghz
Min:30 Max: 60
@1680x1050 3.6Ghz
Min: 60 Max: 120
So maybe get better cooling. I've heard the Phenoms refused to be overclocked a lot so probs you should get better cooling.

FORGET THE 6400!

I got a 5600+ and clocked just as high as most 6400s can get, and at half the price.

its still a windsor core, so it has the larger cache which is why your brisbane was holding you back. When AMD went 65nm dualies they really botched it with the onboard cache.

Thats why its a 4200+ but at 2.2, a windsor 4200+ is 2.1. Thats one of the reasons intel CPUs leave AMD in the dust.

Get a 5600+ for ~100 bucks and OC it to 3.3 stable with low temps like I did. I even had the same board

I have heard of some ppl getting 3.5 on the 5600+ (which most 6400+'s cant get) and I got 3.4 ( the top end for most 6400+s) for benching, and saved myself a nice chunk of change. For this price you could get a psu upgrade AND a cpu upgrade for an extra $20 or so.

I ran the OCZ StealthXstreme 600w with quad 18a rails. each video card has its own 18a rail, then I think another for the board and another for everything else like drives, fans etc.

its a great PSU, cheap, and I ran dual 8800s, my 5600+ at 3.3, a low-end liquid system, 5 120mm fans, a 200mm fan, triple hdds and a partridge in a pear tree.
