Default 2X8800GT in SLI or a HD 4850

I currently have a single 8800GT. I can get another 8800GT for about 130 bucks so i was thinking of going SLI. I know SLI is overhiped and all that. But then I saw the 4850 and wanted to know which way would be the best way to go to get the most performance.

The 8800GT would be a better choice in this situation because you have an SLI motherboard, and sli 8800GT's are more powerful than a single 4850.

1 good card is almost always better than 2..but Since you have an SLI board it could make sense going SLI..also what res do you play at..you will only see an advantage at higher resolutions..But if i was in your position id sell your current card..youve also got 130 bux for the other card you want to buy..save a little and get a HD4870

There's a review at anandtech that shows that the 8800GT sli is more powerful than the 4870 btw. I'll see if I can dig it up.

http://www.anandtech.com/video/showdoc.aspx?i=3341&p=13

There it is.

It beats it in everything but enemy territory and bioshock. And in bioshock it's a .7 fps difference. Enemy territory is a 7 fps difference. It beats it in crysis, cod4, Assassins creed, the witcher, and oblivion.
